The Mombasa Academy is the first of a series of educational centers of Excellence to be built worldwide by the Aga Khan Network. Each academy will express the architectural heritage and cultural identity of the country in which it is built, and the Mombasa Academy has interpreted the Kenya Coastal Swahili style in a contemporary manner, with external walls of sawn coral punctuated with grille work of cast aluminum and red-tiled roofed balconies.
PLANNING has been involved in the detailed design, from schematics by others, and contract supervision to completion, for the new Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Schools for the Aga Khan Education Services. The phased project is ongoing.
