PLANNING’s design approach for this residential retreat was intentionally centered around farmhouse themes, embracing and celebrating its remote backwoods location. The design incorporates a durable and limited stone palette, creating a strong and authentic connection with the surroundings. The form and orientation of the buildings were carefully considered to offer dramatic and intimate views, allowing residents to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the estate.
The goal was to establish a beautiful relationship between the landscape, architecture, and the homeowners, as well as their visiting guests. The design emphasizes creating a respite, a place of tranquility and relaxation. The architecture of Hadada Estate was integrated harmoniously into the site, fostering an intimate connection with the landscape. The forms of the buildings were de-composed into appropriate parts, allowing the landscape to approach and interact with each structure, resulting in inviting indoor and outdoor spaces.
A material palette was proposed that will weather gracefully over time, blending seamlessly with the topography of the site. The topography itself provided cinematic opportunities at various points, both nearby and distant. The colors of the earth, flora, and fauna served as inspiration, guiding the architectural choices.
Throughout the design, there are contrasting and complementary spaces designed to evoke tranquility, fellowship, intimacy, and stillness. These spaces provide opportunities for lush thematic landscaping. Both the ground and upper stories offer views to nature, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The design takes into account the changing light throughout the day and the seasons, ensuring that all spaces are appropriately illuminated and provide a sense of comfort and privacy to their occupants.
